Peptide body lotion is the least-studied format this site covers, and the gap is not marginal. PubMed holds sixteen randomized controlled trials of topical peptides for facial skin ageing. For body lotions and creams it holds none.
On 2026-09-13 we searched for every record joining peptides with body lotion, body cream or body moisturiser, and read all five.
The five records

Three of the five are not about a cosmetic peptide applied to body skin at all. One is a plan for a study rather than a study. What remains is two papers, sixteen years apart, and only the 2023 one reports modern instrumented outcomes.
The one study with results, and the arm it is missing
Eggerstedt and colleagues at UCLA applied a defensin-containing hand and body cream twice daily for six weeks to the hands, forearms, elbows and knees of participants with dry, photoaged or dull skin, measuring hydration, viscoelasticity, retraction time, thickness, density and transepidermal water loss before and after.

The paper describes its own design without euphemism: open label, single arm. Every participant received the cream. Nobody received the same cream without defensins, and nobody received nothing.
That design cannot answer the question the product raises. Applying any emollient twice daily for six weeks to dry elbows and knees produces large changes in hydration and in the mechanical measures that follow from it — which is why the largest effects in the table are at the elbow, the driest site tested. Attributing a 99% hydration gain at the elbow to a peptide, when the comparison needed to make that attribution was not run, is not something the paper claims and not something a label should.
Body skin is not one skin
The argument usually made for body peptide products is that body skin is thicker, so it needs more help. That premise is half right, and the half that is right has been measured.
Czekalla and colleagues imaged epidermal and stratum corneum thickness in vivo at five body sites in twenty healthy volunteers aged 18 to 66, using two-photon microscopy and optical coherence tomography. Their findings:
- solar-exposed areas had both a thicker epidermis and a thicker stratum corneum than solar-protected areas (p < 0.05)
- the gluteal epidermis was the thickest measured (p < 0.05)
- epidermal thickness decreased with age (p < 0.05)
- men had a thicker epidermis than women (p < 0.05)
So the barrier a body lotion meets is not a single constant. It differs by site, by sun exposure history, by age and by sex — and a product applied from shoulder to ankle crosses several of those in one application. "Body skin is thicker" is true of some sites and not others, and the variation within one person is substantial.

What a peptide body lotion can honestly claim
That it moisturises, which is well established for the base and is most of what is noticed on dry body skin. That one uncontrolled six-week study of a defensin cream reported improvements in skin density, hydration and elasticity at four body sites. That no randomized trial of a peptide body product exists, and that the one properly randomized body-lotion study in this search is a protocol for a trial in atopic dermatitis whose results are not yet published.
What would settle it is the arm the 2023 study did not have: the same cream with and without its peptides, in the same people, at the same sites.
Read alongside the peptide moisturizer, where the facial barrier evidence sits, and the peptide cleanser, the only format with less behind it, a pattern holds across this whole site. The formats with evidence are the ones left on the face for months. Everything else is an extrapolation, and the further it travels from the face, the thinner it gets.
